Running a chorus in Illinois these days is expensive. In the past we’ve received funding from the Illinois Arts Council and generous patrons. Amasong is committed to paying artists as professionals, including our artistic director, pianist, and the guest artists who perform at our concerts. Other expenses include rental of office, rehearsal and performance space, purchase of music, insurance, annual community building retreats, and commissions of works by female composers. Many of the venues at which we recruit singers are canceled this year due to the pandemic. This makes us sad but we are not giving up, just taking a break until it is safe to sing again. Amasong is devoted to all women-identified singers being able to participate, regardless of their ability to pay. Your support can help keep the chorus thriving. Amasong is a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. Each Amasinger pays per-semester dues and a music fee. The twice-yearly concerts generate revenue, as do extra concerts in our communities. The sale of CDs t-shirts, and other items help with expenses and get the Amasong name out to new and potential fans, but do not provide a significant revenue stream. Does that cover it?
