Partnerships
Amasong partners with individuals and organizations to create beautiful music and to nourish our community. If you would like to collaborate with us, please contact us at director@amasong.org! We would love to hear your ideas!
Recent musical collaborations:
- A joint concert in April 2008 with the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington-Normal, IL, hosted by the Advocacy Council for Human Rights.
- Participating in a mass choir (comprised of Amasong, the Parkland College Chorus, the Chorale, the University of Ilinois Men's Glee Club, and the Central Illinois Children's Chorus) at the C-U Symphony Orchestra's performance of "Prologue in Heaven" from the opera Mefistofele, by Arrigo Boito.
- Singing at the Urbana Park District's Sesquicentennial Chautauqua in Crystal Lake Park.
- Featuring guest performers at Amasong winter and spring concerts, including percussionist Rocky Maffit and the Campus Middle School for Girls Chorus.
- Commissioning a new work by composer Marjan Helms. Helms' piece "Sapphire" premiered at the 2007 Winter concert.
Current community partnerships:
- Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County - Amasong is a partner on the 2008 Women Build project. We donated $1 for every audience member at the Winter 2007 concerts, and about a dozen Amasong members helped frame the walls as build volunteers on May 30, 2008.
- WILL-AM-FM-TV - For two years running, Amasong has "womaned" the phone lines during WILL-TV's annual pledge drive.
